Our Ohio State University Ohio Stadium Series Baseball Story & Inspiration:
Welcome to O-H-I-O. Ohio Stadium is an American football stadium located on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. It is primarily the home stadium of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team and the location of the University's Spring Commencement ceremonies each May. The stadium has been dubbed "the Horseshoe," "the Shoe," and "the House That Harley Built." Wow! Interesting.
Part of history now. Beginning in 2000, the stadium was restored and enlarged in stages, eliminating the track and adding more seating, raising the capacity to 101,568 by 2001 and 102,329 in 2007. In 2014, extra seating in the end zone was installed, bringing the official capacity to 104,944. It is the largest stadium in Ohio and the third-largest on-campus football stadium in the United States. On March 22, 1974, the National Park Service listed Ohio Stadium on the National Register of Historic Places.
On September 14, 1985, the #9 The Buckeyes defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers, 10–7, in the stadium's first night game. Ohio State did not play another night game at Ohio Stadium until September 11, 1993, when the 16th-ranked Buckeyes defeated the 12th-ranked Washington Huskies 21–12. Ohio State played 12 additional night games. Through September 18, 2017, the Buckeyes are 16-5 (.762) overall and 9-1 (.900) in Big Ten night games. The Buckeyes' most recent night game was a 33-24 victory over Penn State on October 30, 2021. Whoah! You are Awesome Buckeyes!!!
Ohio Stadium is also a performance venue, with U2, Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones, Genesis, Pink Floyd, and Metallica among the numerous acts that have performed there. Wow! Thank you, Ohio Stadium, for having these incredible performers perform on your field.
